STAR WARS BEDDING

Do you have a little Princess Leia in your house that has her heart set on Star Wars bedding and don’t know which way to turn? Well, join the club because I’m in the same boat. The reason for my daughter’s obsession with Star Wars is probably due to the fact that my husband is a huge fan to the point that he takes offense at comments on the quality of one of the movies compared to another. In his estimation, they are all fantastic.

He watches the movies over and over with the kids claiming to see something new and different in each and every viewing. I would put my money on my toddler in a Star Wars trivia contest against kids twice her age hands down. I’m proud of her memory skills, but the film has created a bit of a decorating dilemma for me.

She is every bit as dedicated a Star Wars fan as any little boy only she adores Princess Leia rather than Luke Skywalker. When it comes to decorating her room, you can forget Dora and Strawberry Shortcake; this girl wants Star Wars bedding. I'm not sure what to make of a young girl who prefers outer space bedding sets and planet wallies stickers on the walls to more traditional themes for girls. But if that's what she likes I can think of no valid argument as to why she shouldn't have it no matter how difficult it may be for me to find Star Wars bedding to use on a girl's bed. And frankly, I find it sexist that Pottery Barn Kids doesn’t offer so much as a twin comforter set and sheets for kids with a more feminine design. Would it kill them to have a comforter set that showcases the Princess over the guys?

Her birthday is coming up and we wanted to have her bedroom decorated as part of her gift. We had a talk to see if she was sure she wanted to spend that much time surrounded with X-Wings, intergalactic decor and blue Star Wars bedding and sheets. The impression I get is that even if the bedding is dominated by the robots R2-D2, C-3PO and Luke with Princess Leia taking a back seat it’s still better than a set with no Star Wars characters whatsoever. So long as the sheets and comforter display the official Star Wars logo she should be happy as a clam.
