Beaded curtains for doorways and windows might not be the best choice in window treatments if you want privacy and teenage girls are notorious for wanting the highest levels of privacy in their bedrooms. But beaded doorway curtains are hard to beat for drama and the illusion of mystery.

How many times have you watched a movie where a seance was about to be performed only to have the psychic’s entrance announced with the sound of clicking made by pushing beaded curtains
aside? Apart from being associated with psychics ready to make sense of the contents of a crystal ball, remember the psychedelic days of the 60s and early 70s? What hippie worth his granny glasses would have anything other than a beaded curtain with love beads across the doorway into his or her den decorated with the emblems of peace signs, free love and flower power?

Today’s beaded curtains for doorways are not necessarily to beaded curtain panels made of handmade beads shipped out from a commune. There are plastic, acrylic and glass as well as wooden beaded curtains and window treatments in bright colors like pink and purple or black and pink that coordinate beautifully with modern bedding sets in teenage girls’ bedrooms

You can pick up imported, cheap beaded curtains or choose your panels with luxury in mind made of crystals glass or elaborately carved wooden beads. To shed some light on an otherwise dimly lit room, shimmering mirrors can be strung and used as beaded style curtains that will reflect the sunlight in wonderful prismatic patterns making the space seem cheerful and alive with light.

The way to address the privacy issues that we mentioned earlier in regards to beaded bedroom curtains or doorway curtains is to layer them over something solid. Hang fabric curtain panels, window shades or blinds inside the window frame and install your beaded curtain panels on a rod mounted on the wall over the window frame. During the day you can let the sun stream in through the beads and have all the privacy you could ever want at night.

The same process can be used for the bedroom door. Hang your beads on the side of the doorframe opposite the direction that the door opens. Close the wooden door to keep things private inside the bedroom or leave the door leaving the beaded curtains as the only barrier between the bedroom and rest of the home.

If neither of these ideas for using beaded curtains works for you, perhaps the answer is a beaded wall curtain. In a tropical setting, bamboo beaded curtains, capiz shells or selections that display pictures of dolphins, the ocean or other designs can take the place of framed artwork on the bedroom walls.

For the room where semi-privacy is needed during certain times of the day, the decorative benefits of beaded curtains are hard to beat.
