What is a mom to do when her daughter finally kicks her Little Mermaid bedding set to the curb? In these tough economic times when many families have a decorating budget is stretched to the limits and ready to pop at any moment, tossing out all those expensive ocean bedroom decorations to change the décor is enough to give you a pain in your head long before it hits your checkbook. It’s sad to say, but even my old standby, painting the bedroom walls is looking more expensive than it once did.
How can you make your daughter happy and salvage your under the sea bedroom décor?
You might give updating the toddler mermaid comforter set to a mermaid bedding that is better suited to a teenage girl. It can be tricky to find a collection that is not too (ahem) mature for a tween or preteen as mermaids by nature are not known for their taste in clothing. The best we can hope for is long, beautiful hair that has been artfully arranged or some carefully positioned seashells in strategic areas for modesty’s sake.
How lucky is it for us that designers searching for new ocean and beach theme bedding designs decided to dress mermaids up in their Sunday best and give me something to work so that I won’t pull my own hair out when faced with decorating teenage girls bedrooms with mermaid bedding sets. Imagine the surprise on the faces of tween as well as teen girls when I show them that there is hope beyond Ariel and friends! Not to mention how happy mom (and dad) will be that only minor adjustments are necessary to give their daughter’s bedroom a makeover into an underwater retreat possibly getting a few more years out of existing bedroom decor! And the beauty is that tropical fish and sea creatures will be right at home with nobody the wiser that they were once used as decorations to complement an ocean baby bedding set for girls .
