TEEN GIRLS HEART BEDDING

Teen Girls Bright Lime Green and Aqua Bedding Set - Hearts and Polka Dot Comforter

What do you think about the bedroom in the picture with the teen girls heart bedding set? I saw a bedroom decorating question regarding this comforter set that got me thinking about how small decorative decisions can take a bedroom's design in one direction or another.

The girl who wrote in said that she loved the polka dot and heart print fabric of the comforter set and the contrasting pattern of the striped bedskirt but didn't like the "dressed up" look of the picture of the bedroom on the bedding set's packaging and wanted to know how to decorate her room in a funky fashion using the girl's heart bedding.

I think I would go for a shabby chic look using a chipped iron bed frame and I would ditch the matching curtains. Just because you buy a bed in a bag doesn't mean you have to use the window treatments. Sell them, toss them or whatever; if you don't like them don't destroy the look of your room just because you feel wasteful. Aluminum foil over the windows is better than buying drapery hardware and taking the time to hang curtains that you hate.

Getting back to the teen girls bedroom design problem, as I said, I would keep the teen girls heart bedding set and decorate the bedroom in a funky, shabby chic style. How do YOU decorate a bedroom when you are after a stylish look but don't want anything fancy?

HEART QUILTS PATTERNS OF LOVE

hearts pattern rag quilt bedding comforter set

Nothing says love and devotion like patchwork heart quilts. Patterns range from simple pieced heart quilts to more advanced appliqué and heart shaped quilt blocks. For those at the beginner level, heart shaped log cabin quilt patterns are one of my favorites because of how quick and easy they are to put together as well as a beautiful way to use up some of my smaller scraps of quilting fabric.

A homemade patchwork quilt is always a welcome gift even if it’s tied rather than hand quilted. And there are so many patterns that can be adapted to the holidays and seasons of the year. Heart quilts may not be a traditional Valentine’s Day gift, but it might be one of the most unique and special items a teenage girl might receive from her own personal Cupid on this special day. Not to mention that with the use of free heart quilts patterns your only investment will be some heavy duty quilting thread and between three and four yards of quilting fabric. You would be hard pressed to find a stuffed, red teddy bear for less money than a beautiful heart quilt that will last a lifetime.

There is an added benefit that heart bedding sets and teenage girls' bedrooms decorated with heart print fabrics continue to be appropriate in teenage girl’s bedrooms long after the red satin Valentine’s Day Cards, stuffed animals and vases holding hearts and flowers begin to look out of place and dated.

Even if you have no inclination to pick up a heart quilt pattern, some sharp needles and start quilting there are cute Valentine heart pattern bedding sets with polka dots in varying shades of pink, white and red that beat a box of candy or bouquet of flowers hands down in my book.
